1. What is rake / rakeback?

    Rake is the scaled commission fee taken by a cardroom operating a poker game. It is generally 2.5% up to 7% of the pot in each poker hand, up to a predetermined maximum amount.

    Rakeback is a percentage of the rake, that goes back to the player.

 

2. How is rake calculated?

Rake calculation methods:

    Dealt Cards - If you are dealt cards in a hand then you are deemed to have contributed to the pot and therefore you are allocated an equal share of the rake taken. This is regardless of whether you fold straight away or not. Rooms: Cake.    

    Average Contributed - Is similar to the dealt cards method in terms of its calculation, but you must contribute to the pot. If you fold without contributing to the pot, then your rake consideration is zero. Rooms: PlanetWin365.

    Weighted Contributed - You get allocated the weighted proportion of the pot that you contributed. Rooms: Unibet, Poker Heaven, Fortune, InterPoker, Carbon, Poker Stars, Party Poker.

  In addition OnGame have developed their own take calculation method, called Essence model, which attributes rake to players based on a secret formula which takes into account their winnings/losses.

 

3. What is AAMS?

AAMS (Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato – Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies) is the Italian gaming authority that issues licenses.
